I took JoJo to the beach.
The moment we stepped onto the sand, I could feel his hesitation. The texture. The unfamiliar ground. The unpredictable ocean. He walked slowly, cautiously, needing time to understand his surroundings.
When the sand got on his swim trunks, he immediately asked to change. I brought out the change of clothes… but when I held them up, he said “Not that one.” And that’s when I knew — he wanted to stay. He wanted to explore, even if it was uncomfortable.
Step by step, wave by wave, JoJo started to let go.
He began smiling. Then laughing. Then screaming — not in fear, but in joy.
In the last few photos, you can see it: that freedom. That release. That joy.
When it was time to leave, the sand became a challenge again. It stuck to his legs and his feet, and the panic returned. Changing clothes after play is always tough for JoJo — he needs it all off, completely, before he can feel calm again.
But despite the hard ending, this day was a win.
Because JoJo didn’t just go to the beach — he conquered it, in his own time, in his own way.
🧩 These are the moments we celebrate.
The messy ones. The slow ones. The joyful ones.
