Today, Jordan had horse therapy again. It’s one of those routines that sounds simple to others, but for us, it’s a whole journey. Just getting there with all the sensory prep, checking the weather, and hoping he feels regulated enough to participate is already a win.
But today? He didn’t just ride.
He imagined.
“I want to ride the horse like a cowboy, Mama.”
He said it softly, but so sure. Over and over.
And just like that, my heart knew — therapy isn’t just about goals on paper. It’s about sparking something joyful inside our kids.
So yes… next weekend, I’m booking a trail ride. He wants to be a cowboy, and I want him to feel like he can.
Later, even after the session, he was still full of energy. Despite the cooler weather, we found ourselves at the pool, because sometimes movement is the only way to reset. And I’ve learned by now — if it helps him calm his body and mind, I’m there.
🌟 A Moment of Connection
At the ranch, I saw a little girl with a chewy Lego-shaped necklace. She wore it like a pacifier clip and gently chewed between turns. I’d seen them online, but seeing it in person — seeing how much peace it brought her — reminded me how meaningful these tools really are.
These small moments connect us as autism moms — even without words. A nod, a glance, a shared understanding.
Every child on the spectrum walks a path filled with both challenge and wonder. And every mama walking beside them carries strength she didn’t know she had.
Thanks for being here — and if your child wants to be a cowboy too, let them ride. 🤎
