🥋 From “No No No!” to Yellow Belt: JoJo’s Taekwondo Journey

There was a time when just stepping into the taekwondo studio was a big “nope” for JoJo.
When Jay first started his trial class, I thought Jordan might want to try too. But instead, he clung to me with a nervous, “No no no.” He was so timid, he wouldn’t even come into the building with me and JayJay — we had to wait in the car just to feel safe.
One day out of the blue, JoJo said he wanted to try it… but it turned out he just wanted the cool uniform! I explained that we couldn’t just get the uniform — we’d have to earn it together. He agreed to try the class, and to my surprise, he had fun. Still, when it came time to sign up, he said no again.
So, I let him be.
Weeks later, he asked to join again — this time for real. We tried another class, and he confidently told me he was ready to sign up. And since then? Not a single whine, not one tear. He goes to class with confidence and focus, and I’ve never seen him this proud of himself.
He’s already a yellow belt now, and every time he learns something new, he stands taller. Of course, he’s a little mad that he’s not a purple belt like his big brother JayJay… but that only fuels his determination.
Watching him grow stronger, not just in body but in courage — this is why we try. Even when they say “no,” the journey is still unfolding. 💛
